Dear Friends of the Children’s Center for Cancer and Blood Diseases:
In honor of September being Childhood Cancer Awareness Month, we are sharing footage of a very special moment at CHLA.
One of our brain tumor patients, 7-year-old Jeremiah Succar, had an opportunity to sing his favorite song, “Fight Song” by Rachel Platten (ranked No. 7 by Billboard) with Rachel herself. He listens to and sings it whenever he needs motivation to help him battle his illness.
After Jeremiah’s mom reached out to Rachel via Twitter to let her know what a difference this song has made for her son, Rachel came to the hospital to surprise Jeremiah. Instead, she got a surprise when he sang “Fight Song” for her from his hospital bed—word-for-word.
We were lucky enough to be able to capture this touching footage on camera.
In honor of Childhood Cancer Awareness Month and all the kids at CHLA and around the globe who have battled or are in the throes of cancer, we encourage you to take a moment to watch and help spread the word by sharing this video with those you know.
Thank you for all that you do; by simply caring about this important cause, you touch more lives that you might ever know.
